Gabby Otchere-Darko, a lawyer and a New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, has taken to his Twitter handle to troll former President John Dramani Mahama for urging Ghanaians to vote against the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led NPP government since it has not done much under the eight (8) years it has been in power.
A video of former President Mahama went viral on several social media platforms where he was seen and heard urging Ghanaians to vote against President Akufo-Addo and the NPP because since assuming office, there is little to show for the eight years and and the NPP has been in power; contrary to the four (4) years it has been in power.
“Lets register and kick out this non-performing government. Its been eight years of abandoned projects, eight years of failed promises, one-village, one-dam has not materialized” Former President Mahama is seen and heard in a 12-seconds video which has received a lot of mocking by Ghanaians on several social media platforms.
It is believed that the video was short after the former president completed the processes involved in one getting his or her voter identification card. Dressed in a smock, the former President held what looked like his voter ID card in his left hand as he spoke to a section of the media who had gathered at the Bole District Assembly in the Savannah Region, where he had gone to register.
Taking to his Twitter handle, the NPP stalwart wrote “I was always suspicious that.@JDMahama was only using 2020 a rehearsal for 2024 after Akufo-Addo’s 8 years. I think they call it a Freudian slip…”
Gabby’s post on Twitter is one of few posts he has made about the former President who is seeking to get voted by Ghanaians to become Ghana’s president for the second time after he was defeated by President Akufo-Addo in the 2016 general election by over a million votes.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been in office 2016 and is readying himself and the NPP to go into the 2020 general elections hoping to be voted for again. What this means is that the NPP under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo has only been in office for four years and not the eight years former President Mahama sought to portray in the well circulated video.
It is not clear what might have compelled former President Mahama to mention the eight years instead of 4 years. Several Ghanaians have taken to social media platforms to troll him adding that since being kicked out of office by Ghanaians four years ago, life has been difficulty for him so much that he mistook four years for eight.
