NDC Declares: Ditch the Classroom, Virtual Learning is the Future!

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is revolutionizing Ghana’s education system with a bold proposal to shift from traditional classroom learning to virtual learning. Selorm Avedetsi, a member of the NDC Communication Team, believes virtual learning is the future, prioritizing accessibility, affordability and quality.

Key Proposals:

– Virtual Learning Implementation: Moving away from traditional school placement due to limited classroom space.
– Free Laptops/Tablets for Students: Continuing the policy of providing free devices to support virtual learning.
– Addressing Sector Challenges: Virtual learning aims to tackle education sector challenges and prepare Ghana’s workforce for the 21st century.

This proposal is not without precedent. Some Ghanaian universities have already adopted blended learning approaches, combining online and in-person instruction, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, challenges persist, including:
– Technology Anxiety: Students’ discomfort with digital tools can hinder learning.
– Instructor Factors: Teachers’ ability to adapt to virtual learning environments is crucial.
– E-Learning Satisfaction: Students’ overall satisfaction with online learning experiences affects outcomes.

The NDC’s vision for education aligns with Ghana’s long-term development goals, including the “Ghana@100” agenda, which aims for a democratic, inclusive and self-reliant nation by 2057. The party claims abolishing the double-track system will be feasible by 2027.
