Law enforcement agencies must be proactive – Sampson Ampah urges

The Communications Manager of Ghana Water Company Limited (Tema Region), Mr. Sampson Ampah, has urged law enforcement agencies to be more proactive in their duties.

As the world celebrates International Water Day, Mr. Ampah emphasized the need to enforce laws that prohibit mining activities near water bodies and in forest reserves.

In an interview on Plan B FM’s Nkosuo Nsem show with Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, Mr. Ampah stated that chainsaw operators are not permitted to cut down trees in forest reserves.

“As Ghanaians, we must all ensure that we abide by the law,” he said.

He further urged law enforcement agencies to take their responsibilities seriously and called on local assemblies to enact and enforce by-laws effectively.

“We need to protect and conserve our water bodies for proper usage. The rate at which illegal mining activities are affecting the country is alarming, and it requires urgent attention from both individuals and law enforcement agencies,” he added.
