Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has been transferred to the Interior Ministry to serve as the Minister’s Technical Advisor.

The reassignment comes hours after the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, assigned her as the Director-General of Research and Planning at the Ghana Police Service.

According to a letter from the Presidency, the Commissioner is expected to liaise with the appropriate authorities to ensure a smooth transition into her new role.

“His Excellency the President recognizes and deeply appreciates your unwavering dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the nation. It is his firm belief that your expertise and commitment will continue to serve the country effectively in your new capacity,” a portion of the statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, reads.

COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah had earlier been appointed as the Director-General of Research and Planning as part of a reshuffle within the Ghana Police Service.

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Service on March 19, 2025, confirmed the changes, which were expected to take immediate effect.

Before this reassignment, COP Addo-Danquah recently returned to the Police Service after serving as the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

She has also previously held the position of Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
