Ato Forson moves to scrap E-Levy, Betting tax, and Emissions levy

“We will abolish the 10% withholding tax on Sports winnings” – Dr. Ato Forson
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has presented three financial bills to Parliament aimed at repealing key taxes.

The proposed legislation includes the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Bill 2025, the Emissions Levy (Repeal) Bill 2025, and the Income Tax Amendment Bill 2025.

If passed, these bills will abolish the controversial E-Levy, scrap the Emissions Levy, and eliminate the 10% withholding tax on bet winnings—a move that aligns with the government’s 2025 Budget objectives.

The First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor, has referred the bills to the Finance Committee for further review and recommendations.
