Bechem United offers GH¢100,000 bounty for Pooley’s killer

Ghana Premier League side Bechem United has placed a GH¢100,000 bounty on the killer of Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

In their effort to combat hooliganism in football, Bechem United has pledged this reward to anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Pooley’s death.

The club says the decision has become necessary as their team doctor, Dr. Achau, is facing pressure from his family not to travel for away matches due to safety concerns.

Following Monday’s court proceedings, Asante Kotoko’s Communication Director, Sarfo Duku, revealed that police have identified the suspect responsible for the stabbing.

According to Duku, the alleged perpetrator, Brimah, remains at large. He added that all accused individuals in the case have confirmed that Brimah was the one who fatally stabbed Pooley.

However, in a statement released on Tuesday, February 18, the club reaffirmed that while they will train for fitness purposes, they will not participate in any competitive matches until significant security measures are put in place to safeguard the league.
