My children remained jobless after completing school under NPP – Former NPP chairman laments

My children remained jobless after completing school under NPP – Former NPP chairman laments

Former Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Omari Wadie, has lamented that three of his children, who completed school when his own party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) was in power failed to secure jobs.

According to him, he was turned down several times and was ultimately denied jobs for his children after approaching multiple appointees of his government.

Speaking on Top Radio, Omari Wadie said he was repeatedly told there were no available jobs whenever he sought employment opportunities for his children.

“Me of all people, after the massive campaign that I did all over the place for the NPP to win election and come to power, up till now my children who have completed school are still home jobless. My children completed school under NPP but they still don’t have jobs. Whenever I visited a CEO looking for jobs for my children, I was always met with the refrain ‘there are no jobs here.’ Go and apply online, we did all of that, but yet my children were never employed. As former National Vice Chairman, my children didn’t get a job to do when my party was in power.”

Michael Omari Wadie who also once served as the Ayawaso Wuogon Constituency Chairman of the NPP is alleged to have described educated unemployed Ghanaian youth as lazy on Onua TV morning show in February 2023.

In a one-on-one discussion in Twi, he said to have likened the unemployed graduate with one freed from captivity yet remains in the same position because they still think they are in captivity. He further added that such a situation required something similar to a slap on the back or push to jolt them back into reality.

According to Wadie, if these unemployed youth could spread their CVs to ten companies at least two would invite them for interviews.

He added that the current crop of young people are soft – lacking a hustle mindset, making reference to a pampered home pet and a street one on the other hand that has a survival mindset.
