National Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC) Joseph Yammin has warned that any father-for-all act—acts of consolation or magnanimity—towards the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) by the NDC majority in Parliament or any government official will not be tolerated any longer by the ordinary membership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a social media post in which NPP stalwart Kennedy Agyapong is heard in an old video casting aspersions on the person of John Mahama, Mr Yammin warned that any apology from NDC MPs in parliament or from any government official to any member of the NPP again will not be countenanced.
“The next time we hear any apology from the majority in parliament everyone will hear of us, the same goes for government officials. Any act of FATHER FOR ALL won’t BE ENTERTAINED. The country must and will be reset, ” he wrote.
The majority leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, had apologised to former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta after National Security operatives had searched his house. His action drew sharp criticism from members of the NDC who lamented that NDC members had been subjected to worse treatment when the NDC lost power in 2016 and the NPP never apologised for any excesses whatsoever.
For Mr Yammin, NDC MPs and government officials will have members of the NDC to contend with should they treat NPP members with a father-for-all attitude again.
