Honourable Charles Aseidu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South, recounts how he lost his job and was deprived of employment opportunities and contracts under the NPP government because his father is Aseidu Nketia.
According to him, when power changed hands, the port authorities told the private company that unless he was sacked, their licence would be withdrawn.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Radio XYZ, he further stressed that he and his brother were rejected by private companies they applied to due to the fact that they are children of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, despite their qualifications.
He mentioned that despite his educational qualifications, he had to settle for a driver for his father to earn a living.
“After the NDC lost the 2016 general elections, my brother and I were sacked from the private company we were working for because of our father’s position in politics; my personal laptop is still with the company.
The Director of the Company was threatened to sack us, or else he would be relocated from Ghana. I was left with no option than to become the personal driver of my father, despite having my Masters Degree,” he said.
The staggering revelation by Charles Asiedu demonstrates the partisan nature of the country’s democracy, and the desire to choose party loyalty over national interests.
