Tensions are reportedly rising within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the appointment of ministers and chief executive officers by President John Dramani Mahama. According to reliable sources within the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” is unhappy about being sidelined in the appointment process.
Reports indicate that President Mahama rejected Asiedu Nketiah’s list of preferred candidates, creating discontent among some party executives. Many have reportedly visited the chairman’s office to express their displeasure over the President’s choices.
Sources reveal that Asiedu Nketiah has lodged a formal complaint with the party’s Council of Elders. In response, an emergency meeting has been scheduled, involving top party officials, including the Speaker of Parliament, to address the concerns and resolve the growing tensions.
Some party members are calling for a swift resolution to prevent further divisions, recognizing Asiedu Nketiah’s crucial role in the party’s 2024 electoral victory.
