Ebi Bright takes Charles Forson to High Court over Tema Central Victory

The Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central Constituency during the 2024 general elections, Hon. Ebi Bright, has petitioned the High Court to challenge the election victory of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Hon. Charles Forson.

Ebi Bright is contesting the validity of Mr. Forson’s win, alleging irregularities during the 2024 elections.

In her petition, Ms. Bright asserts that Mr. Forson was wrongfully declared the winner by the Electoral Commission (EC). She is challenging the EC’s final tally and seeking a court order to either nullify the declaration or mandate a re-run of the election in the constituency.

The court is expected to hear the case in the coming weeks, as both parties prepare to present their arguments.

Speaking with Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi on Plan B FM’s Nkosuo Nsem show on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Ebi Bright further alleged that some NPP polling agents interfered with the collation process at the Chemu Senior High School collation center.

The NPP must subject themselves to the correct process if they know they have no issue, she stated.

She emphasized her right to challenge the results, saying, The case has been taken to the Tema High Court, and I have every right to contest the declaration of Charles Forson as the MP for Tema Central in the 2024 election.

The petition asserts that Mr. Forson’s declaration as MP-elect was made under questionable circumstances, allegedly breaching constitutional provisions and electoral regulations.

“My legal team has urged the High Court to determine the validity of the results and ensure justice for the electorate in Tema Central” she noted.
