GFA has decided to keep Otto Addo as Black Stars coach – Randy Abbey

GFA has decided to keep Otto Addo as Black Stars coach – Randy Abbey

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has resolved to retain Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars despite recent setbacks, according to Black Stars management committee chairman Randy Abbey.

Despite recent challenges, including Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 21 years, the GFA is opting for continuity.

Ghana finished bottom of their group during the AFCON qualifiers, failing to secure a single win.

“I think the GFA has taken the decision already,” Abbey disclosed during an interview on Original FM. “The GFA is keeping Otto Addo. Immediately, it’s about the World Cup qualifiers that start in March.”

Reports indicate that while the GFA plans to replace assistant coaches Joseph Laumann and John Paintsil, it has decided to retain Addo to provide stability.

The Black Stars face pivotal World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in March, with the GFA banking on Addo’s leadership to turn things around.

The Black Stars management committee was reconsittuted over the weekend, with Randy Abbey being the chairman and Stephen Appiah returning as vice chairman.
