A group of six suspected armed robbers attacked and robbed multiple passengers of their valuables, including money, phones, and other items, on the Accra-Assin Fosu road.

The incident occurred between Ayeldo and Sekyerew-Nyakumasi Ahenkuro’s deplorable road around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Victims of the robbery, who spoke about the incident, shared a “terrifying experience about the robbery.” They reported that after being robbed, they were also viciously beaten for not having enough money on them.

One of the survivors, a sprinter driver with registration number GW-6775-24, recounted his ordeal: “I slowed down at a pothole between Ayeldo and Sekyerew around 7 p.m., and a man with a torchlight signaled me to stop. As I struggled to open the driver’s door, I heard a gunshot.”

According to some of the victims, the armed robbers made away with a substantial amount of cash, including ¢17,000, ¢12,000, and GH¢1,800. The victims were then forced to lie down during the ordeal.

The Abura Aseibu Kwamankese (AAK) District Police patrol team arrived at the scene, calmed the situation, and pledged to investigate the robbery to the latter. They also assured the public of enhanced security patrols in the area.
