Renowned Alternative Dispute Resolution Expert, Fashion Designer, and Youth Counsellor, May Bright Coffie, has advised couples to focus on inner beauty for a lasting love journey.
In a recent interview with hostess Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s popular social and lifestyle programme, ‘Nyansapɔ Fie,’ Auntie May highlighted the importance of looking beyond physical appearance in relationships.
“Concentrate on your partner’s inner beauty, especially when they’re not looking their best,” she advised.
“Appreciate them even when they’re tired, wearing work attire, or haven’t showered.”
Auntie May noted that men, in particular, value their partner’s natural beauty, which can strengthen the relationship. “It’s not just about how they look after showering, but also how they appear in their everyday, imperfect state,” she added.
In addition, Auntie May cautioned ladies against becoming complacent about their appearance, simply because they are loved and accepted by their spouses. “Make an effort to look good and enhance your appearance,” she urged.
Ultimately, Auntie May emphasised that focusing on inner beauty is key to building a more profound and lasting connection. “By doing so, couples can cultivate a deeper appreciation for each other, beyond physical appearance,” she concluded.
Lady Elizabeth Kesewaa Nortey, a renowned Counsellor and CEO of Kess Millinery and Beads, offered her perspective, emphasising the importance of valuing one’s contributions to the relationship.
“At any given point in time, a spouse should focus on what they bring to the table, their value to their partner, and how they are appreciated,” she advised.
Lady Elizabeth cautioned women against compromising their values beyond physical beauty.
“As a woman, being desired and cherished by your partner is important, but ensure your inner values remain intact. Consider these values as your capital in the marriage, focusing on both your husband and your values, as he may find them attractive outside of your matrimonial home.”
She further emphasised the importance of maintaining one’s values to manage and correct wrongdoing in the home.
“Find creative ways to address issues without losing focus. At every stage in life, concentration is essential,” she urged.
