“NPP Gov’t became a ‘sycophantic’ system under one leader” – Kwadwo Mpiani

“Vote For Me If You Are Tired Of High Tax Rate”-Akufo Addo’s Old Campaign Tweet Pops Up

Kwadwo Mpiani, former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, saying that sycophancy became widespread within their ranks.

According to MyNewsGH, Mpiani expressed concern that even when things were clearly going wrong, no one was willing to speak the truth to power.

In an interview on Good Morning Ghana, Mpiani attributed this situation to the concentration of power in the hands of a single leader.

He explained that many individuals within the government were more focused on maintaining favorable relations with the leader rather than offering honest feedback.

“Unfortunately, when you express concerns, you become an outcast,” he said, referring to how people who dared to speak up were often branded as enemies of the president or the government.

Mpiani also highlighted the irony of the situation, revealing that the government had executive powers far more influential than that of the party leader.

“One would have thought that we would sit up and be more careful with our actions,” he said.

However, instead of taking corrective measures, he observed that many in the government chose to allow the situation to deteriorate, becoming “sycophants” and failing to address critical issues.
