During his final State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressed the issue of corruption and outlined the efforts made by his government to tackle the menace.

The outgoing president asserted that every claim of corruption against any member of his administration was thoroughly investigated and dismissed where appropriate.

Akufo-Addo highlighted the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as a key milestone in his government’s anti-corruption agenda. He noted that, despite initial skepticism regarding the office, it has gained recognition as an effective institution in advancing transparency and accountability.

“Through robust institutional reforms and unwavering commitment, we have fortified the structures to enhance transparency and accountability,” the president stated, expressing optimism about the sustainability of these efforts beyond his presidency.

Akufo-Addo also expressed confidence in the country’s economic recovery, asserting that the country’s economy has exceeded initial expectations despite global and domestic challenges.

He stated categorical that the country was not broke as being bandied by some propagandists.
