The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has postponed the investiture ceremony of its incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor.

The event, initially scheduled for today, Friday, December 27, 2024, has been deferred, according to an official statement from the university’s registrar with a new date for the ceremony yet to be communicated.

“The general public is hereby informed that the investiture ceremony of Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, previously scheduled for Friday, 27th December 2024, has been postponed.

“A new date for the investiture ceremony will be communicated in due course. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” part of the statement read.

While reasons were not provided for the postponement in the official statement, recent developments suggest potential legal challenges surrounding the investiture as an alumnus of UPSA, Rashid Ibrahim, reportedly filed a court injunction seeking to halt the ceremony following allegations surrounding Professor Mawutor’s academic promotion.

Below is the university’s statement.
