ORAL unlawful, unconstitutional – Abena Osei Asare

31 Upstream Companies Yet To Pay Corporate Taxes — Deputy Finance Minister

President-elect John Mahama’s Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee is illegal and unconstitutional, according to Atiwa East MP Abena Osei Asare.

The MP who serves as the Finance Ministry’s Minister of State has also questioned the rationale for the formation of the five-member committee, which is led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of parliament from North Tongu.

She has claimed that since several governmental institutions are already tasked with overseeing matters pertaining to corruption, a parallel committee is not required.

The MP questions how the NDC government plans to put their pointless interest-based committee findings into practice.

According to her, the new administration shouldn’t rush into adopting a plan that isn’t permitted by the Constitution.

During a thank-you visit in her Eastern constituency, the Minister said these things.

Although Ghanaians may have been dissatisfied and voted against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election, she claimed to have enjoyed the goodwill of the constituents.

Although the party acknowledges the people’s will, the MP said they are confident they will recover.

The nonpartisan committee works pro gratis, has no budget or financial obligations, and is set up to guarantee justice and accountability.

Former Obuasi East NPP MP Edward Ennin has stated his willingness to provide proof of the locations of looted assets, despite the criticism, especially from some NPP members. Former NPP General Secretary Nana Obiri Boahen has also praised the initiative.
