NPP supporters should not support any corrupt officials if the corruption allegations are true—NPP UK Chair

NPP Electoral Area Coordinators In Agona West Constituency Call For Investigations Into Destruction Of Party Register

Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, Chairman of the United Kingdom branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also known as Wofa K, has counselled members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to refrain from defending any official who is cited for acts of corruption that are ultimately proven to be true.

Wofa K stated that it was imperative for Ghanaians to cease defending corrupt officials who are prosecuted for their corrupt offences.
Corruption, he noted, was a canker that must be collectively combated, hence the need to allow the state to deal with all corrupt personalities, regardless of their stature, in accordance with the law.

Speaking on ‘As it is in Ghana’ on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Ghana, and 92.4FM, UK, he expressed his support for the prosecution of corrupt individuals. He was responding to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative to be implemented by President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

In his view, if the ORAL is not utilised as a witch-hunt or persecution, then he would support it to target those who have looted the state.

He emphasised that the ORAL should not be employed as a tool to intimidate former appointees, as was done under former President John Agyekum Kufour.

He advised that all those cited for corruption must be dealt with within the confines of the law and with strong evidence supporting the cases.

He then counselled NPP supporters not to defend anyone whose corruption allegations prove to be true.

“If it is true that some appointees are corrupt and it is not an agenda by the NDC to persecute them and use it as a political gimmick and genuinely they have evidence to support the corruption allegations, they should use the laws of Ghana and follow the procedure and take them to court for the court to determine what the outcome is. They should do due diligence and ensure that those accused would be punished, he told the host, Sir Richie.
