Galamsey: 1 dead, 3 injured as pit collapses in Atwima Nwabiagya

A 23-year-old man has tragically died, and three others are hospitalized following the collapse of an illegal mining pit on Monday at Nkonteng, near Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, identified as Osei Kwabena from Offinso, was trapped beneath the rubble and could not be rescued.

However, three others were pulled out alive and are currently receiving treatment at the Nkawie Government Hospital.

The body of the deceased has been transported to the morgue for autopsy and preservation.
