Mahama to set up committee for 120-Day social contract execution

Be Lenient In Your Judgments, Mahama Told

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has unveiled plans to establish a dedicated committee to implement his 120-day social contract with Ghanaians.

A key initiative under this contract is Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), an ambitious anti-corruption campaign aimed at investigating allegations of misappropriation, recovering state resources, and prosecuting those found culpable.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Apostolic Fathers, Mahama expressed confidence in the plan’s feasibility and its potential to deliver results.

“We have carefully selected the things we believe are achievable within 120 days. We will work diligently to ensure that, at the end of this period, we can check each of them off. I will soon inaugurate a committee focused on achieving these goals,” he stated.

The President-elect emphasized his administration’s commitment to upholding constitutional principles of accountability and transparency.

“We want to raise accountability to another level. It’s a constitutional obligation for us to ensure that public officeholders account for the trust placed in them”.

“If you run your own private business, you can do as you wish, but when taxpayers place you in an office funded by their contributions, you must be prepared to account for every resource entrusted to you,” he added.

Mahama described the 120-day agenda as a “final opportunity to set things right,” recognizing corruption as a persistent challenge in Ghana and across the sub-region.

He emphasized the pressing need to rebuild public confidence in the country’s democratic institutions.

The 120-day agenda marks a pivotal first step toward fulfilling Mahama’s commitment to improved accountability and governance.
