The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the mysterious damage to a statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi.

On the morning of Monday, December 16, 2024, passersby noticed a conspicuous gaping hole in the back of one of the statue’s legs. Additionally, the plaque accompanying the statue was missing.

It is currently unclear whether the damage was an act of vandalism by individuals opposing the statue’s presence or the result of a structural flaw. Photographs and videos circulating online show the left leg of the statue severely damaged, sparking conversations and speculation about the incident.

The authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to assist in uncovering the truth behind the damage.
