Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated Accra Hearts of Oak1-0 in a tense Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on December 15, 2024.

The match was decided by a last-minute goal from Kotoko’s Albert Amoah, who pounced on a miscommunication between Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and defender Kelvin Osei.

Amoah was quick to seize the opportunity, tapping the ball into the empty net to hand Kotoko all three points.

Despite creating several chances throughout the match, Hearts of Oak was unable to convert, and the costly error in the closing stages ultimately sealed their fate.

Before the goal, Osei had been the standout performer for the Phobians, with his solid defensive work. However, his mistake in the dying moments proved to be a turning point.

With this victory, Kotoko now has 6 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses from 13 matches, placing them 6th on the league table with 21 points.

Hearts of Oak, who have 5 wins, 4 draws, and 4 losses from 12 matches, sit 7th with 19 points.

This was the 115th meeting between these two footballing giants.

Kotoko has now won 39 times, while Hearts of Oak has 38 victories, with 39 matches ending in a draw.

Following this crucial win, Kotoko, under the leadership of Prosper Narteh Ogum, will be looking to build momentum and challenge for the league title.
