The Asogli State Council has rebuked Koku Anyidoho, condemning what it described as “misguided and baseless comments” targeted at the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State Togbe Afede XIV, in a widely circulated video. The comments in the video widely circulated on social media links Togbe Afede XIV to issues surrounding the current state of the Ho Airport, an allegation the Council has firmly dismissed.

In a press release signed by Stephen Tetteh, Secretary to the Asogli State Council, it accuses Mr. Anyidoho of engaging in “divisive and infantile political antics” and advised him to desist from dragging the Agbogbomefia into political controversies.

The Council clarified that Togbe Afede XIV’s role in the development of the Ho Airport, and highlights his efforts to establish a Pilot Training School and an Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Facility at the site. According to the statement, Togbe Afede XIV’s company paid $32,445 to the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) on June 26, 2023, as a 30% deposit for land allocation. However, the GACL has yet to honor its commitment to the project.

The Council emphasized that these initiatives, like many of others initiated by Togbe Afede’s ventures, are to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.

The press release described Mr. Anyidoho’s comments as “irresponsible and offensive,” asserting that Togbe Afede XIV’s integrity and contributions to national development are beyond reproach. It further stated that the challenges facing the Ho Airport are not due to those who advocated for its construction but rather the negligence and lack of vision by current decision-makers.

The Council has therefore called on Mr. Anyidoho to channel his frustrations toward addressing the actual issues affecting the airport rather than using Togbe Afede XIV’s name in political propaganda.

The Asogli State Council has reaffirmed Togbe Afede XIV’s unwavering dedication to the development of the Volta Region and Ghana at large. The statement underscored his focus on promoting initiatives that benefit the country and reiterated that the Agbogbomefia would not be distracted by unwarranted criticisms.

The Agbogbomefia of Asogli State Togbe Afede XIV, a respected traditional leader and entrepreneur, has been instrumental in spearheading several developmental projects across the country. His involvement in the Ho Airport stems from a vision to enhance regional infrastructure and create economic opportunities. However, the underutilization of the airport has become a focal point of public debate, drawing unwarranted criticism from individuals like Mr. Anyidoho.

The Asogli State Council’s stance on the matter underscores its commitment to safeguarding the reputation of Togbe Afede XIV while advocating for meaningful progress in regional and national development.
