The Asuogyaman District Chief Executive (DCE), Mavis Opokua Akunnor, barred education officials, including the District Director of Education, Headmistress, teachers, and students of Adjena Senior High Technical School (SHTS), from attending the commissioning of a newly constructed teachers’ bungalow.
The facility, a three-unit chamber, and hall self-contained bungalow, was built by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, using his share of the District Assembly Common Fund.
Adjena SHS has only one accommodation for the headmistress; the rest of the teachers stay in towns, which affects the supervision of students on campus. Hence, the MP decided to build a new bungalow for the school.
The DCE says the project must be commissioned only after the December 7 election to enable the regional minister, Seth Acheampong, to attend, and not even the intervention of the chief could get her to rescind her decision.
Metro TV reached out to the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman District Thomas Ampem Nyarko and the DCE Madam Mavis Opokua Akunnor for comment.
