Support us if you want us to qualify for 2026 World Cup – Otto Addo urges Ghanaians

Support us if you want us to qualify for 2026 World Cup – Otto Addo urges Ghanaians

Black Stars coach Otto Addo is calling on Ghanaians to rally behind the national team as they aim to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

This call for support follows the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a 1-1 draw with Angola last Friday. Despite the setback, Addo remains focused on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and is determined to shift attention to the next challenge.

“I understand that people are disappointed, maybe angry. I was also disappointed, but surely we have to move on now,” he told the press on Sunday.

“We need to do our best to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers, and it starts tomorrow.

“If you [Ghanaians] want us to go to the World Cup, you need to support us,” he said.

Currently, Ghana is in second place in Group I of the World Cup qualifying campaign, tied on points with group leaders Comoros. Only the top team in the group will advance to the knockout phase.

Looking ahead, the Black Stars are set to face Chad and Madagascar in March 2025. Addo is determined to become the first coach to lead the team to back-to-back World Cup appearances.
