AFCON 2025Q: Thomas Partey misses out as Otto Addo names Black Stars’ squad for games against Angola and Niger

Ghana on the brink of missing out on AFCON 2025 after defeat to Sudan

Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey has been dropped from the Black Stars squad for the games against Angola and Niger.

Partey’s exclusion and the naming of three local players are the two major calls by Otto Addo in the 25-man squad.

Partey and defender Mohammed Salisu are the big misses in the list. Unlike Partey, who has no injury concerns, Salisu picked up a hamstring injury during Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Sudan.

Regarding the local players, Samartex’s Isaac Afful, Nations FC defender Razak Simpson, and Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi are the trio who made the list.

The Black Stars have not won any of their four games in the qualifiers, losing two and drawing two.

They will need two wins from the two games against Angola and Niger and hope Sudan lose their respective games.

Ghana will face Angola on November 15 in Luanda before hosting Niger on November 18 to close the qualifying series.

Below is the full squad:
