The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting an error-free and transparent electoral process, ensuring the public’s trust in the results.
To strengthen its operations, the EC has recruited over 200 professionals specialising in mathematics, statistics, and other quantitative fields, a move aimed at enhancing the accuracy and credibility of the election.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, 5 November 2024, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, revealed that these new recruits will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the election process runs smoothly and without discrepancies.
“The Commission has already recruited over 280,000 individuals who are going to work on this election. We have also recruited people who are going to help with the collation. These are people who have a background in mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics and will be assisting with quantitative methods. So they are going to assist the returning officers at the constituency level,” Dr. Asare explained.
The data experts will support vital tasks such as data collation, vote tabulation, and statistical analysis, key processes that directly impact the credibility of the election results.
Dr. Asare emphasised that the EC’s focus on these areas is crucial for maintaining public confidence in the electoral outcome.
“The Commission’s preparations are focused on accuracy and transparency, which are essential to maintain the public’s confidence in the results,” Dr. Asare added.
