CLOGSAG to embark on nationwide strike November 7

CLOGSAG Gives Akufo-Addo Ultimatum To sack Western North Minister
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike effective November 7, due to the government’s delay in finalizing a new salary structure.

CLOGSAG had previously announced its intention to proceed on strike in a statement dated October 22, anticipating that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) would miss the October 31 deadline to finalize the new salary structure.

This decision was likely motivated by the government’s failure to implement the proposed salary structure, despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) being reached one and a half years prior.

However, in a statement, issued on Monday, November 4, CLOGSAG’s Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, now considers the January 1, 2025 implementation date unrealistic.

Additionally, he said CLOGSAG will no longer engage with FWSC’s CEO, Benjamin Arthur, citing bad faith.

“As a result of the long delay in the completion of a New Salary Structure and other Conditions of  Service for the Staff of Civil Service and Local Government Service, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has no than to ask our members to stay at home on Thursday, November 7th.”
