Mental Health Advocate Jennifer Kukua Asuakoh is sounding the call for comprehensive support for individuals with mental disorders.

In a recent interview on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, with Nana Asabea, Asuakoh emphasized that every mind matters and that we all have some level of mental illness. She stressed that even small triggers can push someone into a diagnosable mental health condition.

Asuakoh broke down the World Health Organization’s definition of mental illness, explaining that persistent changes in mood, thinking, and behaviour can indicate mental instability. She also highlighted the importance of urgent attention when mental health affects daily living, as it can be hereditary.

Asuakoh shed light on the vulnerability of introverts, who often struggle to express their feelings, and warned about the impact of medications and food on fetal development during pregnancy. She also stressed the risk of mental retardation in children due to lack of oxygen during childbirth.

As a passionate mental health advocate, Asuakoh believes in promoting inclusive support for mental wellness, breaking down barriers, and creating a safe space for people to share their struggles. She emphasized that every mind matters, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or background, and that compassion and support are crucial for mental wellness.
