Electoral Commission denies promising one-week release of provisional voters’ register

The Electoral Commission (EC) has refuted reports suggesting that its Chairperson, Jean Mensa, promised to release the Provisional Voters’ Register (PVR) one week after the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, October 1.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 8, the EC clarified that during the IPAC meeting, Ms. Mensa indicated the revised PVR would be made available within two weeks, not one, as claimed by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The statement, signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations Samuel Tettey, assured the public that the revised register will include all necessary updates to ensure its accuracy and integrity ahead of the upcoming elections.

The EC emphasized that the claims from certain NDC members about a one-week release timeline were false.

The release of the revised register is seen as crucial in addressing concerns about discrepancies and omissions in earlier versions.

With the nation approaching a significant electoral period, the Commission reiterated its commitment to maintaining public trust and ensuring the credibility of election outcomes through the accurate and transparent release of the revised PVR.

The EC has consistently emphasized its dedication to upholding the highest standards of electoral transparency.
