GPL: Asante Kotoko climbed to the top of the league table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Accra Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday. Albert Amoah scored the only goal of the game, finding the net in the 48th minute by slotting home Dauda Saaka’s precise out-swinging cross. Kotoko’s victory marked their second consecutive win, underscoring their strong form early in the season. Kotoko dominated the match, controlling 55% of possession and creating 17 goal attempts compared to Lions’ five. Of these, Kotoko managed four shots on target, while Accra Lions only troubled Kotoko’s goalkeeper twice. Despite the slim margin, Kotoko’s dominance was clear, and they showcased a disciplined defense to keep a clean sheet. With this win, Kotoko sit at the summit of the table, tied on points with Bibiani Goldstars but leading on goal difference. Next up, they’ll face Legon Cities as they look to maintain their top position. Accra Lions, on the other hand, continue to struggle this season and will aim for a turnaround in their upcoming fixture against Berekum Chelsea. Kotoko fans will be hopeful their side can carry this momentum forward in the weeks to come .
