The President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu has disclosed that the President of the Republic has been given 3 conditions by the Organized Labour to suspend the pending strike.

Earlier today October 4, 2024, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo met with the Organized Labour about their pending strike slated October 10, 2024.

Sharing details of their meeting on Onua FM, Angel Carbonu disclosed that the President pleaded that the strike be halted due to its side effects on the country.

However, Organized Labour was said to have given the President three conditions to suspend the strike.

“The President met the leadership of organized Labour so we discuss the pending issues. The president pleaded and told the Organized Labour that if we shut down at this point the country will be affected”.

“So he’s pleading that Organized Labour should suspend the strike. But we told him that it is impossible to suspend the strike.” He revealed.

According to Angel Carbonu, Organized Labour urged the president to withdraw the law that gives people the opportunity to mine in the forest and also declare a state of emergency in mining areas and water bodies so that it becomes a criminal offence for anyone who gets involved in those areas.

He further disclosed that the President was given another condition of banning mining for now to solve the issues at hand and later regulate it accordingly.
