The Savannah Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES),  Mrs. Judith Mabel Micah has been confirmed dead after battling a life-threatening injury following a road accident.

It would be recalled that the Educationist in February this year was involved in a car crash on the Kumasi-Accra highway.

The accident reportedly occurred between Suhum and Nsawam on Monday morning.

The Regional storekeeper, Mr Baba Wusamah, who was travelling with Mrs. Micah, died on the spot.

While the Regional Director was to attend a meeting with the Director General of the GES, Mr. Wusamah was to attend a meeting of storekeepers upon invitation by the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

Reports suggested Mrs. Judith Mabel Micah was in critical condition after the accident and had been receiving treatment until her passing on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Statement from the Headquarters of the Ghana Education Service(GES) announcing her death reads “The Ghana Education Service(GES) regrets to announce the passing of the Savannah Regional Director Mrs. Judith Mabel Micah who succumbed to injuries sustained in a tragic accident in February this year.

The Director had since February been at the hospital and sadly passed away Friday, 27th September, 2024. The management and staff of GES are deeply saddened and devastated by this loss.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the Director’s family, children, loved ones and the entire GES staff during this difficult time. The Savannah Regional Director will be remembered for her tireless commitment to education and exceptional leadership. Her contributions to the development of education in the region and Ghana as a whole will not be forgotten. Management will provide support to the bereaved family. Funeral details will be communicated later”
