The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to ensure the passage of the Broadcasting Bill before the 8th Parliament dissolves.
Speaking during an encounter with the media on Sunday, August 25, the Vice President assured journalists that the government is committed to ensuring the bill’s passage before the last sitting of Parliament.
“In line with our philosophy and reaffirming our commitment to upholding the fundamental rights to free speech and media freedoms and expanding the frontiers of individual rights, we will pass and fully implement the Broadcasting Bill before the final session of Parliament this year to better safeguard media freedoms and pluralism.”
“We will further resource the Media Capacity Enhancement Programme to continue enhancing the knowledge and skills of journalists,” the vice president further assured.
