E/R:Asamankese Circuit Court Jails Amankwanor To Ten Years Imprisonment Over Double Sale Of Land

The Asamankese Circuit Court Presided Over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced Kwadwo Amankwanor to Ten Years Imprisonment in hard labour for selling a plot of land to two people, contrary to section 277(2) of the Land Act 2020 (Act 1036).

Kwadwo Amankwanor was Also fined Gh¢4,500 with interest for the complainant and Gh¢6,00.00 as compensation after pleading guilty to the charge.

Prosecuting, Inspector Samuel Owusu told the court that the complainant in this case is a fashion designer and lives at Dobro near Nsawam whilst the accused person is a farmer and resident of Osofo Lamtey a village near Adeiso.

In the year 2021, the accused person sold one plot of land to the complainant at Akyene village near Adeiso at Gh¢4,000.00.

The complainant spent Gh¢ 2,000,00 to prepare documents of the land.

In the year 2023, the complainant put up a single room self-contain apartment at the cost of Gh¢ of 30,000.00.

The complainant went to the site later and saw that her structure has been demolished.

She subsequently reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Investigation disclosed that about eight years ago the accused person sold the same piece of land to one Quaye and even prepared document for him.

After investigation the unknown person was charged with the offence and send to court.
