A suspected armed robber has been shot dead by police at Kuntenase, in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on late hours of Thursday June 13, 2024.
The incident according to residents occurred when a gang of four armed robbers mounted a blockade on the Kuntenase – Piase road and attempted to attack residents.
A victim of the robbery incident, name withheld in an interview with this reporter disclosed that, the robbers were armed with guns and machetes terrorizing residents.
“The police quickly responded to the distress call and engaged the robbers in a shootout. One of the suspects was shot and killed, while the other three managed to escape,” the victim narrated.
Remains of the deceased suspect, who’s yet to be identified has been conveyed to the Pramso government hospital for preservation.
A reliable source at the Kuntenase police station after confirming the incident to OTEC News said the police are currently searching for the three suspects who are on the run.
Meanwhile the Assembly Member for Kuntenase Electoral Area, Hon J. K Amankwaa said armed robbers have been terrorising residents in the past few months.
The situation according to him has affected the livelihood of residents in the area who cannot go about their daily activities calling for a swift intervention.
