Head of communications for the Ghana Association of Private Secondary Schools, Mr Kyei Baffour, has emphasized the commitment of school administrators in the nation’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
He hailed containment measures adopted by school authorities after a series of meetings ahead of the reopening of schools, since the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions as crucial to the fight against the spread of the novel virus in private senior high schools.
In his interaction with Maxwell Ohene Addo, on Plan B FM morning show, NKOSUO NSEM on Wednesday 15th July, Mr. Baffour, hailed the numbering of classroom desks, the decongestion of dormitories, the use of veronica buckets and the fumigation of schools as vital steps taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 in private senior high schools.
He however acknowledged that, it also behooves on students to conduct themselves securely and abide strictly by the protocols instituted for safe academic activities on campuses in order to safeguard themselves against contracting the novel disease.
In further assuring the public on measures taken by private school administrators, Mr. Baffour said that enough personal protective equipment had been provided by government and isolation centers had been allocated for students who might show symptoms that may give room for concern. “ We are monitoring the situation on our campuses, we won’t relax on our paddles, we have humbly appealed to student to abide by the protocols and we hope the students would help us achieve this goal together. We have also set out isolation centers on many campuses to accommodate any disturbing situation”, he said.
