Ghanaians told to expect more fuel price hikes

Energy Expert Sampson Addae says Ghanaians should expect further increases in fuel prices in the coming months.

According to Mr. Addai, The National Petroleum Authority (NPA)’s directive to the various industry players to increase the Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) margin by GH₵0.05 on every litre in the Price Build Up for petroleum products from June 1, 2024 would have adverse effect on petroleum consumers

Speaking to Ohene Kinnah on Plan B FM’s ‘Ebaanosen’ on Tuesday June 4, 2024, Sampson Addai noted that petrol price may hit higher heights if government doesn’t intervene.

He also asserted that, he’s not surprised with the latest development due to the recent strike action by tanker drivers to demand improved conditions service.

Sampson Addae said the latest directive by the NPA to industry players increase the Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) margin by GH₵0.05 on every litre in the Price Build Up for petroleum products is aimed at cautioning tanker drivers who recently registered their displeasure over poor working conditions.
