Nuisance taxes still crippling lives, businesses in the country – Tax analyst

Gov’t Must Revalue Property Taxes In Plush Areas – Taxation Expert
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Tax Analyst and the Executive Director for Revenue Mobilisation Africa, Geoffrey Ocansey has said that every country develops through tax mobilization but sometimes too much tax becomes a burden on the people and cripples business.

Speaking on Plan B Fm morning show NKOSUONSEM hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, the tax analyst in reaction to the Minority in Parliament strongly condemned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his recent remarks regarding the revenue mobilization methods employed by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr. Ocansey explained that, although he is not against tax, too many taxes on businesses in the country will compel business owners to lay off workers to cut production costs.

,” I remember this government said they will move this country from taxation to production, what has happened?”

He said the government is continuing to introduce taxes but has refused to do the needful by cutting down its expenditure

He stressed that the government’s inability to fight corruption and recoup the stolen and misappropriation of funds from government appointees is also another aspect that has crippled the country’s finances.
