President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday started a 14-day self-isolation after it emerged that he was exposed to a yet-to-be-mentioned person who tested positive for novel Coronavirus.
The disclosure was made by the Minister of Information, Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a statement date July 4, 2020.
According the statement, the 14-day self-isolation, the President is taking is in line with COVID-19 protocols which is aimed at curbing the spread of the bug which has so far killed over 528,000 people globally.
“The President has elected to do so after at least one person within his close circle tested positive for COVID-19 today.” Portion of the statement read.
The statement further pointed out that as of yesterday, July 4, 2020, the President had tested negative for the virus but upon the advice of doctors, he has decided to self-isolate and added that the President’s action was out of abundance of caution.
Concluding, the statement remarked “the President will during this precautionary self-isolation period, be working from the Presidential Villa in the Jubilee House.”
