Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender and 1978 AFCON winner, Kuuku Dadzie has bemoaned the absence of committed technically gifted players, who are not money conscious, as the reason for the national team’s trophy drought which has lasted decades.
The former Ghana centre-back also raised concerns over the lack of preparations and player indiscipline as contributing factors to our trophy woes. Speaking to Tema based radio station, Plan B fm, the ex-captain of the black stars called for proper structures to be put in place to improve the quality of the local football league.
“During our time, we had good technical players, not today players. The current black stars team lack good technical abilities to perform and some of the current defenders are not technically good,” he said.
On what could be done to improve the country’s football, the former Black Stars defender advised, “the way forward depends on how we organise our league to be competitive which would also improve on the level of conditioning of our players.”
