1992 Constitution gives too much power to the executive – Samuel Appiah

1992 Constitution gives too much power to the executive – Samuel Appiah
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Political Analyst Samuel Boateng has said the 1992 Constitution gives too much power to the Executive arm of government headed by the President.

In his view, this does not promote checks and balances hence should be looked at.

Mr. Boateng’s comments come on the back of calls by Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of

Asogli, that any new political administration must seriously consider a review of the nation’s Constitution.

“Our problem has always been the NPP, NDC and our thirty-one year old constitution. We wouldn’t have experienced hardships if our institutions were allowed to work efficiently without political interference. Our constitution gives too much power to the executive. I totally agree with Togbe Afede seeking to have the constitution reviewed. It’s a step in the right direction” he told the host of Plan B FM’s  “Ebaanosen”  Ohene Kinnah.
