CAFWCL :

Ghana Women’s Premier League champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies have qualified for this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League after beating Nigeria’s Delta Queens 1-0 in the final of the WAFU B qualifiers in Benin City, Nigeria.

The game which was played in Benin City in Nigeria saw Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah score the only important goal of the game to ensure the Techiman-based side sealed victory.

Amponsah headed into the net from a rebound in the 42nd minute of the game to register her second goal of the tournament having also scored in the semifinal.

The break saw Delta Queens see the majority of the ball and threaten on several occasions but Ampem Darkoa were resilient at the back and kept their composure.

Despite the late attempts, the Ghanaian side held on and secured victory to secure their ticket to play in the main competition.

Ampem Darkoa are second time lucky after failing to secure qualification last year when they lost to Bayelsa Queens in the final.

They will become the second Ghanaian team to play at the CAF Women’s Champions League following the participation of Hasaacas Ladies in the maiden edition in 2021, where they finished as runners-up, losing to eventual Champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
