Lands Ministry debunks using land guards

Lands and Natural Resources Minister Has Failed And Needs To Resign

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has refuted allegations made by the Minority Caucus in Parliament that it employs the services of land guards to safeguard its lands.

The Minority members of the Lands and Forestry Committee of Parliament had accused the government of using land guards to reclaim and protect government lands, citing revelations supposedly made by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Professor Patrick Agbesinyale, during a committee meeting.

However, the Ministry has responded to these allegations in a statement, stating that it has only engaged the services of “Aynok Holding Limited,” a registered limited liability company, to aid in the reclamation of encroached government lands. The Ministry clarified that this engagement has been in effect since 2012.
