A newborn baby has been abandoned at the front view of the New Covenant Apostolic Church at Somanya in the Eastern Region.
The baby, wrapped in a white box with the umbilical cord uncut, was found at the front door step of the church on Sunday, 16 July 2023.
The mother of the baby also left a note.
Some members of the church who had gone to the premises to clean up the place ahead of the Sunday service found the baby and called the attention of the Senior Pastor of the church.
According to the Pastor, the mother of the baby left a note behind, beseeching him and his wife to adopt the baby.
The mother had also asserted that abandoning the baby at the doorstep of the church was the best option.
She therefore appealed to the Pastor to name the baby after one of his children while indicating that by the time the baby would be found, she would have been dead by suicide.
The Pastor, reported the incident to the Police who came to the scene.
The baby has since been sent to the hospital for treatment.
The Pastor appealed to the Police to intensify their search for the mother of the baby in order to prevent her from carrying out her suicide plans.
