A legal Practitioner Lawyer Smith has cautioned the general public to desist from the habit of predicting the outcome of pending court case issues to avoid doubts if the court finalizes or pronouns its judgment.
Speaking on PlanB FM’s EBAANOSEN, with Ohene Kinnah, lawyer Smith explained that, it is an unhealthy practice that can lead to contempt of court which is punishable by law.
Reacting to the recent comments made by President Akufo Addo at Assin North that, Gyakye Quayson will be imprisoned so he should not be voted for as a member of parliament, Lawyer Smith described the comment from President as unfortunate because, “should in case the supreme court imprison Gyakye Quayson what will be the perception of the general public over the supreme court”.
He said that comments made by the Minister for Trade and Industry, Kobina Tahir (KT) Hammond, said that “the fate of the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, James Gyakye Quayson, has been determined that Gyakye Quayson would be going to prison just like the former MP for Bawku Central, Adamu Dramani Sakande, who was imprisoned for lying about his Burkinabe and British citizenships” is something that must come our from leaders who are supposed to know better, he added.
