Members of Gas Tanker Drivers Association threatens industrial strike against leadership

Members of Gas Tanker Drivers Association threatens industrial strike against leadership
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Members of the Gas Tanker Drivers Association have threatened an industrial strike against its leadership over alleged abuse of power.

Mr Emmanuel Nii Allotey a tanker driver in an interview on Plan B FM late afternoon show EBAANOSEN, alleged that there have not been any elections for the past eleven (11) years since the establishment of the association which is contrary to the constitution of their Association.

Meanwhile, Article 3 of the Gas Tanker Drivers Association By-laws says there shall be an election every four (4) years to elect its executives and eligible leaders.

The interim leaders since 2012 have refused to pave way for the conduction of elections and account to its members as to where their monies are being held or saved.

Mr. Nii Allotey added that they pay a daily ticket since the establishment of the association but there is no accountability to them.

They are therefore calling on TUC, the Labor Commission, and the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) to intervene.
