Mr. John Ato Brebo (Uncle Ato), a senior principal investigator and leader of public education for the Commission of Human Rights and Administration Justice (CHRAJ), in Tema, together with Michael Amo has urged the general public not to quit their jobs if they are sexually harassed, especially in the workplace instead they should report such issues to the management or higher authority for redress.
Mr. John Ato Brebo (Uncle Ato) also explained that sexual harassment is an offense that includes offensive or derogatory jokes, racial or ethnic slurs, pressure for dates or sexual favors, unwelcome comments about a person’s religion or religious garments, or offensive graffiti if management refuses to settle and the victim report to the police and if the harassments resulted into rap the culprit could go to prison not less than 25 years.
He also said it is an offense to share pictures or videos of private body parts, sexual activity, or sexually-suggestive acts, such as on their cell phone. Touching private body parts in a sexual way could also lead to imprisonment.
