GES reinstate Fijai SHS headmaster

Fijai SHS headmaster interdicted over alledged illegal fees
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has written to the Headmaster of Fijai Senior High School, Kenneth Agbomadze, to return to office.

Mr Agbomadze was interdicted in April after the Service alleged that he was charging illegal fees.

A committee was set up to investigate the allegations.

But before the Committee concluded its work, stakeholders of Fijai SHS, particularly the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), disagreed with the decision by GES to interdict the headmaster, insisting that the fees were agreed by parents and guardians to be paid.

On Monday, May 8, the GES said based on the outcome of the Investigative Committee’s report, Mr Agbomadze can return to office.

Management of the Service, however, warned the Headmaster, teachers and parents about its abhorrence to “unauthorised collection of levies and takes every act of illegal collection of monies seriously”.

The Regional Director of Education, Felicia Agyeibea Okai, who took charge, is to hand over to the headmaster “and accord you the necessary support for you to function effectively”.

Two teachers of KNUST SHS also interdicted

Mr Agbomadze was also warned about the primary responsibility to ensure strict compliance to all directives, rules and regulations of the Service.

“[GES] will not hesitate to take severe sanctions against any officer who flouts such directives and rules in the future.”
